OceanTech Expo (OT) &
the China Ocean Technology Conference
OceanTech Expo 2025 (OT 2025) will be hosted at Zhoushan Campus, Zhejiang University, May 15-17, 2025. Headed by Zhejiang University's Ocean College, OT, inaugurated in May 2019, is emerging as a thriving exhibition for industrialists and innovators to stage their latest technology at a unique venue where academic and industry leaders interact.
Uniquely located at a world-class campus, OT provides a comprehensive site for exhibits, live demos and training for the ocean business communities – all designed to integrate with the Nation’s premier academic forum, China Ocean Technology Conference, with research accomplishments matching with commercially launched innovations.
The Conference will mark its seventh edition during OT 2025, once again convened at the Ocean College campus in Zhoushan, China.
In 2023, the conference’s sixth edition, jointly organized by Donghai Laboratory and Zhejiang University, saw a record attendance of 1200 leaders from industry, science, research, and government from across China. Frontier Technology Expo launched as an extension for OT 2023 effectively supported the campus’ role in bridging R&D and commercial ventures.
OT 2025 will provide a dynamic interactive platform for the ocean community. Experts attending this biennial event will zero in on the current challenges and developments as continuous breakthroughs in highly automated and intelligent technologies are leaping into the global blue harvest economy, applied in various aspects of the industry:
• Offshore operation platform technology for offshore wind power, tidal energy, wave energy, hydrogen energy and other renewable energy, and traditional energy production
• Port and coastal engineering and river system integration
• Ocean fishing and fish farming,
• Water depth data collection, surveying, mapping and analytics
• Satellite ocean remote sensing, unmanned aerial vehicles
• Surface, underwater and submarine unmanned vehicles
• Smart connected ocean

About Zhoushan
The OceanTech Expo (OT 2025) will once again be hosted at Zhoushan Campus, Zhejiang University.
Zhoushan, China’s largest archipelago and one of the nation’s leading port cities, is a popular tourist destination in Zhejiang Province. It is home to Ocean College, Zhejiang University.
In addition to Zhejiang University, Zhoushan’s local government has established collaboration with Beijing University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, as well as the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
With State Council’s approval to establish Zhejiang Zhoushan Islands District on 2011, it became the fourth national level new economic zone and the first with such status to build a marine economy, serving as China’s strategic oceanic window to the world.
Zhoushan’s key industries include: port and navigation services, ocean technology equipment, marine engineering equipment and shipbuilding, marine tourism, marine sourced energy production, marine mining and mineral extraction, marine biotechnology and modern marine fisheries.
Ningbo-Zhoushan port recorded 1.22bn tonnes of cargo throughput in 2021, ranking it as the world’s busiest port for the thirteenth consecutive years. Its newly upgraded multi-modal transportation service, capable of handling large-size vessels, supports the increasing cargo handling demands. With its shipping and port infrastructure advances in place, and role as China's bunker hub, rivalling global players such as port of Singapore, it is emerging as a top-class world port.
Zhoushan is one of the leading ship repair bases in China, hosting facilities for shipping giants such as Cosco. In 2018, the yards in Zhoushan repaired around 2,000 ships, accounting for 20% of the nation’s total ship repair volume.
The Venue & The Organizers
Ocean College, Zhejiang University (Zhoushan Campus), is located on China’s largest archipelago and in one of China’s leading port cities - Zhoushan, Zhejiang Province.
It has nine research institutes and one research center which include Institutes of Ocean Engineering and Technology, Marine Geology and Resources, Marine Chemistry and Environment, Marine Biology and Pharmacology, Physical Oceanography and Remote Sensing, Port, Waterway and Offshore Engineering, Marine Structures and Naval Architecture Engineering, Ocean Sensing & Networking, Ocean Electronics Engineering & Intelligent System and the Maritime Logistics and Free Trade Islands Research Center. It has also established the Zhejiang University Ocean Research Institute and Zhejiang University Advanced Technology Research Institute Zhoushan ocean Branch.
Ocean College focuses on China’s national strategic objectives in resources, environment, sovereign rights and deep oceans, and, the local science and technology needs in Ocean Engineering Equipment, Environmental Protection Technology, Deep Ocean Equipment and Resources Exploration Technologies, Marine Safety Assurance Technologies, and Marine Environment Monitoring and Restoration. The college benefits from its location in Zhoushan, a unique ocean environment, and Zhejiang University’s multidisciplinary structure. Ocean College strives to build a premier national ocean science education and talent base.
Ocean College’s banner meeting, China Ocean Technology Conference, attended by China’s top academic members and international scholars, is conducted biennially in May. In 2025, the 7th China Ocean Technology Conference has co-located with the OceanTech Expo. Seventh events -- to be held May 15-17, 2025 -- will be part of OceanTech program, aiming to stage the latest technological advancements and to facilitate the growth of China’s ocean technology industry in its strategic oceanic window to the world.
